This article aims to reflect on the themes of justice and justification arising from the biblical-theological reflection of Catholic and Protestant traditions. We followed the basic methodology of bibliographic analysis, as well as the study of terms in Holy Scripture. From there, the following steps were taken: first, the presentation of the understanding of justice in Greek philosophy; second, the consideration of biblical testimony regarding the semantics of justice in the Old and New Testaments; third, there is an incursion into theological reflection, punctuating the main developments of this theme. In the end, it is concluded that, from the doctrinal point of view, there is still a long way to go for ecumenical dialogue, although we have made great progress. As for the reflection on the theme itself, it is possible to understand that we have other starting points for thinking about justice beyond the doctrinal definitions: the reality of the human in need of justice.
