Theological imagination and the phenomenology of life
Keywords:
imagination, theology, phenomenology, LifeAbstract
In an effort to understand the impact of imagination on theological work, the brazilian theologian Rubem Alves will be placed in dialogue with the french phenomenologist Michel Henry. The contribution of the brazilian theologian will be essential for the development of a critique of a theology as a product of orthodoxy, whose imagination is interdicted. Furthermore, Alves’s perceptions of theological work will contribute to a positive imagery agenda, helping to think of the theological as a heretical, erotic, aesthetic, and approachable. Henry will contribute with his phenomenology of Life, substantiating and revealing the “stage” where the theological game is played. In the encounter between theological and philosophical, the phenomenology of imagination in the theological enterprise can be thought of in such extend to contribute to a production that exceeds deduction, and repetition, becoming true creation.
