Abstract

This article addresses the case of a Protestant Christian community in the interior of Minas Gerais and its religious practices that raise reflections on the controversial issue of religious syncretism. The idea is to understand the extent to which the religious manifestations of this community point to syncretism in the terms of Sanchis (2018), through the observations of one of the authors and a review of the available literature on the subject. The term syncretism, although rejected by many, continues tobe widely used by researchers and proves to be useful in the study of religion and other aspects of social reality. It is possible to establish relationships between the data collected and the theoretical material used, raising the theme that finds a fertile field of possibilities in the Brazilian religious field.
