Abstract

The article analyzes the change in Lutheran worship in Germany using empirical data, in particular the 6th Church Membership Survey of 2023. After a look at Luther's emphasized diversity of forms of worship and today's lifeworld-oriented design of worship services, the latest developments in worship practice, as well as the effects of the Corona pandemic on worship behavior, are presented on the basis of empirical studies. The article concludes with reflections on the role of the worshipping community in the face of dwindling church membership.
