Abstract

This article approaches Ruth's book from three perspectives: Feminist Theology with the suspicion and category of gender to reveal both violence and protagonism; the analysis of the narrative for a characterization of Ruth that showed the construction of an exemplary character; and, finally, from the perspective of the concept of diakonia. We present an approximation of the theological understanding of diakonia, to show that the relationship between Ruth and Naomi, their sisterhood and agency can be understood within this perspective, which shows us that the diaconal values propagated in the Gospels were already present in post-exilic popular theology.
