Abstract

This research, of a bibliographic and documentary nature, aims to analyze the attention given to the black population, in the sense of education and inclusion in schools, after abolition. In addition, the silence of the public authorities and the engagement of private institutions are analyzed. In order to develop this qualitative research, several documents were analyzed, mainly from the 19th century, such as the Federal Constitution of 1891, such as the Federal Constitution of 1891 and Decree nº 001, the first of the Republic, as well as the resolutions of some Brazilian states. In contrast, the view of some historians such as Barroso, Maringoni and Menezes. Through this research, it is concluded that black people were neglected even after abolition, as they did not have access to the same rights as other citizens, being silenced before the laws of the time, having to study in non-regular classes to have access to education and seek a better future, continuing the prejudice and racial discrimination that continues to this day.
