Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the representations of black people in the history books of 9th grade after the period from the abolition  (1888). Thus, this study relates texts and images from the books "Araribá History Project ”, produced by Editora Moderna and from  the book "History, Society and Citizenship”, edited by FTD, respectively, the books more purchased by the federal government through the National Plan of Textbook ( PNLD), in order to be distributed in Brazilian public schools. From these considerations, we try to identify if these material are according to the Law 10.639/03.
