Abstract

This article is in a revision bibliography constructed from the experience at the Center for Afro-Brazilian Studies at the Federal University of Pampa (NEAB-UNIPAMPA) and Outreach Program "Integrated Practices in Public Health (PISC), in which the professional training is made through discussions around the promotion of actions in the perspective of social transformation and the health care integral to different collective form, plus the need for actions aimed at the black population health impinge transversely to the actions of mental health care. In this context, aimed to provide a framework for analysis, through literature review, which allows the investigation of racist practices within the school and its relation to the mental health of black children. A search of the text of this review was performed on the basis of Latin American Literature data on the Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS), Database of Nursing (BDENF) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The central terms of the research were: a) school, b) children, c) teachers, d) and mental health) racism, f) Racial discrimination g) prejudice. The corpus analysis was composed of 11 publications, from which we obtained three analytical categories: School, Racial Discrimination and Mental Health. We conclude with the need for greater research scientific production that addresses racism and racial discrimination, especially with regard to bringing the scientific findings through to the effects on the mental health of the black population that suffers from the ills of practices racist in different areas of society.
