AND THEY ALL LIVED IN COMMUNION... BUT NOT SO MUCH:

MEMORIES ABOUT COMMUNION AT THE ASSEMBLY OF GOD DURING THEIR IMPLEMENTATION IN AN AMAZONIAN QUILOMBO

Abstract

The paper summarizes part of the master's research carried out with a congregation of the Assembly of God in Quilombo São Pedro, municipality of Castanhal, Pará, Brazil. The objective is to describe, panoramically, the memories  about the communion of the church  during its implantation in the community (1961-1991) and to weave some  historiographic observations about the  memorization  of the historical moment  in question. For this purpose, ethnographic data from field diary  records were used, such as informal conversations with residents about the  subject, as well as semi-structured interviews conducted with six people  involved in the foundation of the church.  The data reveal that two types of  versions stand out: one  heroic/celebrative and the other  obscene, the versions coexist and appear in specific spaces and moments of social  interaction.
