Abstract

History of toys and games is an educational workshop developed in the School of Application (CAp) UFRGS, in actions of the subproject of History of the Scholarship Program for Initiation to Teaching (PIBID). This workshop, geared for children, students from the early years of elementary school, has as subject the teaching of history, education for diversity and play in different cultures throughout the ages. This paper reflects on the possibilities of games and ludic activities to address the indigenous and African stories and cultures, recognizing the potential in this playful appropriation of pedagogical experiments for the construction of historical knowledge in school. We use authors who treat toys and play in different fields of knowledge, among them Johan Huizinga (1993) and Tania Ramos Fortuna (2004); and the publication organized by Giacomoni and Pereira on Games and Teaching of History (2013).
