Abstract

This paper aims at developing reflections about the childhood, education and society perspectives from the philosopher Aristotle and from the Kayapó, a Brazilian indigenous people. Their views about these aspects generated their concepts of education, which despite their cultural and time differences, have notable similarities, with emphasis to the notion of orienting the individual to the interests and happiness of the community. The educational theories of the greek philosopher and especially those of the Kayapó people, can help us in the difficult task of educating in times of individualism.
