Abstract

This article deals with the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture in Basic Education based on Law 10.639 / 2003, emphasizing the teaching of Literature as a promoter of knowledge and recognition of the culture and history of the African people in the formation of the Brazilian nation. This teaching should foster in the student the desire for recognition of the ethnic-racial group to which he belongs. It presents, in this context, the Mozambican writer Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa, giving a brief analysis of the work Ualalapi as an instrument of knowledge of the culture and history of the African people, highlighting the importance of postcolonial African literature as a source of reflection and criticism on history official. It is a bibliographical research based on the National Curricular Guidelines for the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations, for the Teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture, and in several scientific articles by established authors.
