This article discusses religious racism in Brazil, highlighting the discrimination faced by black people and religions of African origin. To this end, this analysis explores part of the historical context of the construction of a legislative path to protect against religious racism, the legislative evolution in this path and the current challenges for the construction of legislation that effectively contemplates the reality of those who suffer from this crime. Consequently, it points to the need for specific legislation and highlights advances, starting with the so-called Brazilian Racism Law, that is, 14,532 of 2023.
