Abstract

This work investigates the discursive representations (DR) in the (re)construction of the identity of quilombola remnants of Portalegre/RN in two corpora: the e-book "The Speech of Quilombola Remnants of Portalegre from Brazil" Souza, Mendes and Fonseca (2011), a work of transcription of real communication events, in 2000 and the documentary "Solo Negro" produced by the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid (UFERSA), in 2021. We have the theoretical reference of the Textual Analysis of Discourses (TAD), proposed by Adam (2011) and scholars such as Passeggi et al. (2010), and Rodrigues et al. (2012). We cut excerpts from the e-book and the documentary that illustrate our analyses of DR in the (re)construction of the identities of the quilombolas of Portalegre/RN. In the analysis of the e-book, we concluded that the subjects try to erase the identity of quilombola remnants from their discourse, because they are afraid of being hunted down and put back into slavery. In the analysis of the excerpts from the documentary "Solo negro" we observed a re-signification of being black and quilombola with pride and value, who seek to be assisted by public policies and occupy social spaces.
