Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the experience of Black people as a racialized subject in a society that finds its modus operandi in racism. In a decolonial perspective, in dialogue with black intellectuals assuming that black people are in Religious Studies as part of their human network and their field of thematic interests, we argue that the study of race or ethnicity-racial should be part of the academic training in the area as a way of making graduates aware of the issue of racial inequality and because such a study can significantly contribute to the study of religion. Therefore, it's expected to contribute, even if in an incipient way, to broaden the discussion on the importance of such studies in the context of Religious Studies.
