Abstract

This paper presents some considerations about the work experience developed in a discipline that involves African-Brazilian, African and indigenous History, Culture and Memory in a public school in the state of Paraná. In light of Law 10.639/03 and the Law 11.645/08, this discipline was instituted after discussion and reflection with the teachers who saw the opportunity to put in the curriculum of the school from 6th to 9th grade a discipline that considered and deepened the studies on the African-Brazilian and indigenous population. The inclusion of this subject in the curriculum is linked to the context of the school, which in 2010 ceased to be a regular school and became the first public full time school in the state of Paraná. The paper also describes the whole process of reframing that the school has gone through, from community participation in the management of the school to attending the desires of the community that has become, in recent decades, the greatest conglomeration in the state capital, being 65 % of the students are black.
