Abstract

The purpose of the article is to discuss the issue of the environment through a dialogue between religion and modernity, especially in the aspect of modernity crisis which causes harm to the environment, threatening natural resources and the survival of all living beings. It is to resume the contribution of religion as a way of changing paradigm in dealing with nature, as in modernity there is a clear departure from the sacred in function of science vision the religion as a backward step for humanity. Present population data and durability of natural resources and renewable resource alternatives that may be important in a potential paradigm shift in modern society. The research is a literature review based on data presented by Udías Vallina and other authors who describe the prospect of ecology and religion. The relevance of the research is the assumption of religion be an antidote to the ecological crisis, once it was considered something overcome by modernity.
