Abstract

This article starts with the fact that there are already a considerable number of reflections produced with regard to Afro-Brazilian theology as well as about a possible Indigenous theology, which is not well known. There has been a certain amount of advance in dealing with these specific theologies, but this has not been sufficiently considered by the dominant theology of the Christian churches. The article intends to point to some elements of a dialog between Indigenous theology and Afro-Brazilian theology, the starting point of which is the experience of faith and life of these communities. As a text consciously elaborated by a non-indigenous and non-black theologian, the author feels honored to find space in this journal to divulge his contribution. The article proposes listening to the Indigenous and Afro-Brazilian voices as a methodology for a critical dialog with the Christian theology, based on the encounter, on the valorization of the other, on the joint journey and on mutual learning.
