Abstract

Marabaixo is a cultural expression present and striking in the formation of the state of Amapá, which involves African religious rites and syncretism with Catholicism, as well as elements such as music, poetry, singing, dancing and cooking. In this context, this paper aims to discuss the Marabaixo as an element that contributes to the formation of the identity of Amapá, but also as an important factor of resistance to the silencing actions that historically the Marabaixo movement has undergone. For that, references are used that base the theoretical course here present, as Césaire, Durkheim, Videira and Canto, among others.
