Abstract

This investigation brings, as an initial reference, a conceptual approach about the mathematical relationship with music, addressing the importance of the Pythagorean scale as an element of musical constitution. Subsequently, we approach Marabaixo as an element of cultural and traditional manifestation of Amapá, exploring its rhythm and musicality. The present article seeks to understand the mathematical relationship of the Pythagorean scale with the process of execution and musical transcription of the Marabaixo. The research was qualitative, exploratory and descriptive through a case study from the perspective of Bogdan and Biklen (2013). The results showed evidence of the musical mathematical relationship with the musical and traditional knowledge of the culture of Marabaixo, in which the touches can be represented by the Pythagorean scale.
